1980 Avanti II for Sale

I am pleased to offer this beautiful and original 1980 Avanti II for sale. This is a really rare find as the car even comes with the original wheels with the original Michelin tires and original hubcaps! This is one of those finds that you read about but that you rarely see available for sale.
This car was purchased from the Studebaker Avanti rep in north Dakota in 1984. It was then taken to Tucson AZ for a life of luxury. It spent the next 25 years in a heated and cooled garage, and the car was driven about 1200 miles per year. The current owner bought the car this summer with only 33,000 miles on the odometer.
When the car was sold to the current owner, the former owner drove the Avanti all the way from Tucson, Arizona to Minnesota. The current owner had all the fluids checked and any fluids needing changing were serviced. He also changed plugs and tuned it up so this classic Avanti should run as good as new for many years to come.
The steering linkage has been changed from 24 to 1 ratio to a modern 16 to one. I have the original linkage, and it will be included, but this upgrade makes driving this car very relaxing.
The current seller looked for nearly three years to find a really outstanding Avanti II, and I believe this car is one of the nicest originals in existence. The Avanti II Models were made by the new " Avanti Motor Corporation" formed by Nate Altman, Leo Newman, and Fred Baer. Production of the Avanti II models began in 1964 and continued till 1984. These Avanti II cars are considered by many Avanti fans as the best Quality avanti's ever made. The Corvette engines & transmissions) added not only performance, but easy servicing & part availability. There are numerous Avanti internet information and enthusiast sites. One of the best books is "AVANTI the complete story" written by John Hull-- published by Iconografix.
The car is still in original paint. That is a bonus in any classic car. The paint overall looks very good but there are some small imperfections most notibly in the front with stone chips and some cold cracking. I went around the car to photograph the imperfections and they are detailed in the close up photo gallery below. A folder of receipts, manuals and other original information and paperwork including the original window sticker come with the car.
