1962 Corvette Convertible Review

This is a gorgeous 1962 Corvette Convertible for sale. This incredible example has been driven just 51,325 miles since new. It has averaged fewer than 300 miles per year for the past 26 years making this one a well-preserved original C1 Corvette for sale.

14,531 Corvette Convertibles were produced for 1962, and just 1,532 had the optional Powerglide Automatic Transmission. The cost for the 313 code upgrade was more expensive than the manual transmission and fewer than 10% had the option. Other options on this car included a Signal Seek Radio, Auxiliary Hardtop and (narrow) Whitewalls. If rarity is your thing, this low mile automatic red over red example is a great find.

The car was repainted nearly 30 years ago and the paint and body work is holding up extremely well. The color is uniform with very good clarity through out. The color is Roman Red which is the original color for this car, and the redesigned cove lip for 1962 meant there was not the option of ordering these cars with the cove painted to contract the body color. 1962 is also unique in that it is the first year for rocker trim, and since this is the last year for this body style it the only year C1 to have the trim. Red over red is one of the most striking color combinations and this car was sold new with a red hard top as well as the standard issue white convertible top. The interior is in great shape as you would expect from a well-treated, low mile car. Cosmetically this car is very nice.

This car starts, accelerates, shifts and stops as it should. As most car enthusiasts know, low mile cars often develop mechanical issues from non-use. So when the current owner purchased this classic Corvette he had the car completely sorted out mechanically. This is now a turnkey example that can be driven reliably. The car starts right up and the sound coming through the new dual mufflers is fantastic!

Here is a list of the mechanical items that were addressed recently:

All of the exterior and interior electrical components work properly, and the headlights have been upgraded from the outdated T3's to brighter units, through the original T3 bulbs are present and included in the sale. The radio has also been replaced though the original Wonder Bar radio is included with the sale.

This classic Corvette rides on Goodyear Regattas radial tires for better handling vs. the original bias ply tires. The radials are like new and show no wear. The car steers straight and true and braking is also quick and smooth.

This is one of the nicest C1 Corvette Convertibles I have seen. This car draws a crowd of any age or gender. Owning this well-preserved piece of Corvette history is not only a great investment but a fun one that friends, family and bystanders alike can enjoy.
