1956 Ford Thunderbird for sale

This is a beautifully restored Sage Green 1956 Ford Thunderbird for sale. The 1956 Ford Thunderbird is a popular favorite among enthusiasts as it is the only year that has the ornamental continental kit and resulting more spacious trunk. Thunderbird Green (or Sage Green) was only offered in 1956. Combined with a green and white interior, this color combination is stunning.

This 1956 was a nearly perfect, unrestored example until just a few years ago. This car has always been garage kept and well maintained. The current owner has had the car since the early '90s. The car was in for an engine rebuild when the shop suffered a fire. Luckily this car was the closest to the door and was pushed out before it caught fire, but the heat from the blaze was enough to harden the rubber on the car, and the foam spray used by the fire department was enough to harm the original paint. It was a shame for sure, but it was enough to justify a complete frame off restoration. Starting with such a nice, original and straight car helped this restoration end up with one of the finest restored examples out there today. The restoration took 6 years and every last nut, bolt and part was removed and rebuilt. The end result shown here for sale is stunning.

The Matching number, concourse-correct 312-225 H.P. V/8 engine is now rebuilt and beautifully detailed. The engine was rebuilt with hardened valve seats so the car can run comfortably on pump fuel. The car is fed through a 4BBL carburetor. The Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission has also been rebuilt and detailed. Everything on this car was rebuilt to factory specifications. This car starts, runs and drives smoothly and powerfully. Just 575 miles have been clocked since the frame off restoration was completed.

This is a heavily optioned car with the following features:

Sage Green (also called Thunderbird Green) is the most unique color and it was only offered for 1956 and it was unique to the Thunderbird. As you will see in the photo gallery below, the underside of the car has been treated to the same attention to detail as the outside body finish. The frame is painted black and this car looks as good from the bottom as it does from the top. This is a show winning restoration and an investment quality automobile.

The interior is restored in concourse correct green and white. 5 wide whitewall Goodyear radial tires with 1956 wire wheel covers complete the look. A new beige canvas convertible top covers the original restored convertible top frame. The original (restored) hard top is still with the car. All chrome and stainless has been restored and the car shines with all new glass. The owner wanted to preserve a hint of the amazing great original condition of the car so the stainless dash trimming was left in original condition. The only component on the car not 100% correct and original was the clock was rebuilt with quarts mechanisms inside. Everything else down to the yellow Ford Quality stamps are factory correct to the data plate and are exactly as this car would have been when it left the Factory.
